About The Position:

As the Controller at Next Net Media (our parent company), you’ll oversee the company’s accounting operations, ensuring that our financial processes run like clockwork. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll manage the accounting team, optimize financial systems, and provide key financial insights that will support strategic decision-making.

You’ll be essential in maintaining our financial health, ensuring compliance, and supporting the broader finance function as we grow across multiple business units.

A Typical 'Day in the Life' as a Controller Might Look Like:

  • 50% managing the accounting department, reviewing monthly close processes, and ensuring all accounts are accurately reported and deadlines are met.
  • 20% ensuring compliance and preparing financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including for audits.
  • 10% collaborating with senior leaders and the CFO to develop forecasts, manage cash flow, and support financial strategy.
  • 10% optimizing and enhancing financial systems like ERP, making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • 10% brainstorming ways to streamline accounting processes and improve financial reporting to support company growth.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily accounting operations including AR, AP, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Manage and improve the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Partner with the CFO on cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Maintain and enhance the ERP system and other financial tools for efficiency.
  • Support the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets.
  • Provide financial insights and analyses to support decision-making and drive business performance.

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Downtown St. Petersburg, FL. For the first few weeks while you train, you’ll be required to report to the office, and after that, enjoy the perk of 2 remote days per week.

About You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Experience with NetSuite and other accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (yes, we’ll probably ask about your favorite formula!).
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work cross-functionally.
  • Experience in private equity-backed or multi-business environments is a plus. FP&A
  • Strong communication skills—you’re able to break down complex financial data into digestible insights.
  • Experience managing both on and offshore teams
